The best 3-cushion teams worldwide gather in Viersen, the “Wimbledon” of Billard, to crown the World Champion in the 31st edition of the team competition. A warm welcome to players, coaches and the audience in Northrhine-Westphalia, the home of sports.
Compare to previous years the format has totally changed in playing right from the start the scotch double system. There will be no longer single matches but doubles up to 40 points which guarantees high suspense.
Our sincere thanks are given to the German Billiard Federation for their outstanding dedication during the preparations, in particular to the volunteers for their dynamic support and their personal mission to allow a smooth running of this prestigious event.
With all parties involved I look forward to follow exiting competitions wishing the Team World Championship a successful flow.

The international Billiard Elite Three Cushion meets for the most important tournament of the world from the 9th to 12th of March 2017 in our venerable “Festhalle” for the 28th time.
The enthused audience and the exceptionally atmosphere make the Billiard World Championship every year again to an incomparable event – some exciting games could convince myself in the last years.
Top teams will compete for 4 days to win the title of the World Championship, this year for the first time with new rules. I sincerely thank the Deutsche Billard-Union for the always good cooperation. My special thanks goes also to Sparda-Bank, the sponsor of this outstanding event. We look forward to a fantastic sport event in Viersen.
I would like to give a warm welcome in our city to the top athletes from all over the world and the official representatives of billiards. I wish everyone nice days in Viersen and a great pleasure with this fascinating sport.

Once again we have returned to the fabulous and unique “Festhalle Viersen”.
The picturesque city of Viersen will host the “31st World Championship National Teams 3-Cushion” event for the 28th year, from March 9th to 12th, 2017.
This year’s event will be played from the Group Qualifications through to the final using the “Scotch Double” rules, we hope that this system will be successful and will create even more team spirit for the event.
It’s always a great pleasure for everyone, from players to Officials and fans to come together again in this historical city; I look forward to seeing everyone there!

For the 28th consecutive time the entire world class of 3-cushion players will gather at Viersen’s Festhalle to celebrate the 31st edition of the World Championship 3-Cushion for National Teams.
After Belgium succeeded four times in a row the Netherlands captured the title last year having 16 years waited for it. The last success of the German team dates back 14 years which is a little bit shorter only. Being always among the favourites we hope they’ll reach the podium this time.
Now playing the scotch double format from the very first match the results will be more vague compare to previous events. The response of players, audience and media after the introduction in decider sets has been encouraging to make it the overall tournament format. By adding spice and tension it will increase the attraction and improve the real team character of the game.
Regarding the implementation of the scotch double system to point the way forward it comes along with our sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Sports of the Federal State of Northrhine-Westphalia, the city of Viersen, the sponsors, the tournament and organising committee, the referees and the many volunteers for their valuable contribution to make the Team World Championship an exceptional event of international Billiards. Welcome to the players of the qualified nations and good luck for the competitions.
