From March 21st to 24th, the 36th edition of the Three-Cushion Team World Championship will take place at the Viersen Festhalle. In the tranquil city of North Rhine-Westphalia, the billiards world elite will be hosted for the 33rd consecutive time.
Turkey with Semih Sayginer and individual world champion Tayfun Tasdemir has really done it! At the 35th World Team Championship in 3-Cushion, the nation won the title for the third time in a row and thus entered the history books.
What a triumph for Andrea Quarta! At the just finished WC in 5-Pins, the 40-year-old Italian won the title and thus secured his second World Championship after 2008. In front of his home crowd, Quarta played a great final.
At the World 3-Cushion Team Championships in Viersen/Germany, Turkey successfully defended the title of 2019. They beat surprise finalists Colombia 2-0 in the final. The bronze medals went to Germany and Spain.
Sweden’s Torbjörn Blomdahl was crowned world champion for the sixth time in his long and successful career.In a highly dramatic final he narrowly won against the Vietnamese Duc Anh Chien Nguyen with 40:37 points.
The duo Murat Naci Coklu and Lütfi Cenet won the gold medal for Turkey. In the final they defeated the Netherlands with individual world champion Dick Jaspers and his partner Raimond Burgman with 40:22 points.
The South Korean duo Sung Won Choi and Dong Koong Kang successfully defended their title from last year at the Three-Cushion Team World Championships in Viersen. In the final against the surprise team from Austria, the Asians won with 40:30 points after 23 innings.
At the World Championships, which were held for the first time in the so-called Scotch Double mode, the South Korean duo secured the crown with a 40:34 final victory over Belgium. Germany narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals.
The Belgians‘ years of dominance were broken. The Dutch duo Dick Jaspers and Jean van Erp secured the gold medal with an outstanding performance in the final against Turkey. Earlier, defending champions Belgium were defeated by the Turkish team in the semi-finals.
